About Matt Mills
Owner Matt Mills is an accomplished horseman and has been riding competitively since the age of 10. As a youth rider he earned countless championships in horsemanship, trail and western pleasure. A sampling of Matt’s accomplishments:

• Appaloosa California State Champion – Novice Western Equitation 13 & Under
• Appaloosa California State Reserve Champion – Overall Western 13 & Under
• Los Serranos Award Circuit – Junior Overall Rider
• Western Horseshow Exhibitor’s Association (WHEA) – Multiple Championships and Reserve Championships in Western Horsemanship, Trail, Western Riding and Western Pleasure
• Del Mar National Champion (back to back) – Youth Western Pleasure
• Patricia Elliott Challenge Trophy
• Pico Dooley Memorial Perpetual Trophy
• Star Bar Barrett Perpetual Trophy
• California State Fair Champion – Western Pleasure
• CPHA Stock Seat Medal Finals Sportsmanship Award
• Orange County Fair Champion – Western Horsemanship

In June of 1991, at the age of 12, a photo of Matt was submitted for a critique in Performance Horseman magazine (now Performance Horse). Here is what they wrote: “There’s no way a judge could ignore this businesslike young rider. He obviously has his act together. With his neat turnout, his serious look, and his excellent positioning, this young man gives the promise of becoming an outstanding rider.”

Matt is currently a nationally-known trainer of quarter horses for competition in the event of reining, and a a sought-after clinician in the United States, Europe and other countries. He is a member of the National Reining Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association and United States Equestrian Federation.
